Seven Nigerians shot dead in S’Africa

Posted: 07 Jul 2013 01:43 PM PDT

Seven people believed to be Nigerians were shot dead at different times within the last one week in South Africa, media reports have said.
South African police spokesman, Tim Masilela, said four Nigerians were killed when a group of men opened fire on them in Benoni on the East Rand. According to reports, the four were in a Volkswagen Golf alongside one other when a car stopped in front of them.

A group of men got out of the car and opened fire, killing two of the men in the Golf instantly. A third passenger tried to run away, but collapsed and died a few metres from the scene. A fourth man died later in hospital. The fifth man in the car was not hurt.
"The motive behind the shooting is unknown. Police are still investigating," Masilela said. Last Saturday, three Nigerians were killed in a cell phone shop in Voortrekker Street, Benoni.
They were inside the shop when five armed men entered around 6 p.m., police spokesperson Lungelo Dlamini said at the time.
The five opened fire, killing two of the customers, both 38, inside the shop, and the third man, 40, at the shop door. The gunmen fled in a green BMW. They were also believed to be Nigerians, said Dlamini.
He said the police found spent cartridges at the scene, and a licensed firearm belonging to one of the men who died. Nothing was stolen.
"The motive for the killing is still unknown but a possibility that the victims were a rival group is being investigated," he said.

Is This Car Really Worth 600 Million Naira

Posted: 07 Jul 2013 01:42 PM PDT

Is any car really worth $3.8 million dollars [610 million naira]? Or more to the point, is an upstart automotive brand, one with virtually no name recognition, going to be able to convince ultra-rich clientele that its product is roughly 10-times more covetable and valuable than supercars from the likes of Ferrari, Lamborghini, Bentley and Aston Martin?

We'll know the answer once the multi-million dollar Icona Vulcano hyper-exotic is shown during the exclusive auto-themed Salon Privé show, held in London from September 4-6. The Vulcano made its first appearance earlier this year, during the Shanghai auto show. However, the posh Salon Privé puts the car in the context of other high-end automobile manufacturers – not to mention customers who might actually be able to afford the car's surreal sticker price. Regular autos shows can make for splashy headlines, but a more intimate setting like the Salon Privé is where sales of this level of automobile are made.
The Icona Vulcano accelerates from 0 to 120 mph in only 9.0 seconds. That's about how long it takes most cars to reach 60 mph.

The Icona Vulcano accelerates from 0 to 120 mph in only 9.0 seconds. That's about how long it takes most cars to reach 60 mph.

Powered by a hybrid V-12 engine, Icona claims the Vulcano delivers upwards of 900-horsepower and can reach a top speed of 217 mph. That's mightily impressive, to be certain, but the power output is about 50-hp short of the Bugatti Veyron – which, for perhaps the first time ever, seems a bargain considering it costs about $1.5-million less than the Vulcano.
In the time it takes many cars to reach a comfortable highway cruising speed, the Vulcano has already streaked its way to 120 mph. Icona estimates a 0 to 120 mph time of 9.0 seconds flat. "Icona is a very exciting new brand and we are delighted that it has chosen Salon Privé for the UK debut of the Vulcano. It's a beautiful car and it is going to look fantastic within the Concepts & Prototypes Display," said David Bagley, sales director for the Salon Privé.

PHOTOS: Charly Boy's Son Publicly Attacks His Parents

Posted: 07 Jul 2013 09:15 AM PDT

In showing his girlfriend, Eva Alordiah some love on Twitter, Charly Boy's son, Charles Oputa Jnr. inadvertently threw some shades at his parents.
Eva asked Charles on Twitter if she could get some body piercings, and Charles responded that he has seen enough of that from his father, and that she shouldn't. Also, when she referred to herself as "Charly's Angel" , re retorted that she shouldn't call herself that because that is what his mother calls his father, once again attacking the piercings.

Yourba Actor Aka Boy Alinco & Wife Narrate How They Met

Posted: 07 Jul 2013 09:07 AM PDT

Boy Alinco and Olayinka
Bayo Bankole is known to fans as Boy Alinco. An actor on the Papa Ajasco television series, he is married to Olayinka. They share the secret of the 10-year-old union
How did you meet?
Bayo: We met somewhere in Ibadan on the set of a movie and  that was about 10 years ago, she came to the movie set with a small drama club from  the University of Agriculture, Abeokuta.
Olayinka: We met at a location in Ibadan, my group organised a production and he was invited as a guest artiste while I went as a make-up artiste. When he walked into the set with his bow legs, people were hailing him as 'Boy Alinco' and they were getting very excited over his presence.  I just moved and stood alone somewhere away from the crowd. He came to where I was standing and told me that he liked my confidence as I was the only person who did not come to greet him. I told him I did not have to make noise like others. If he wanted, we could meet and talk later. That was how we started talking.
What was the initial attraction?
Bayo: I saw an innocent girl reading a novel by the corner while every other person was just having fun. I discovered the innocence and the quietness which is one of the things one requires in a woman. She is also beautiful and I think she is brilliant too. That was what I needed to woo her.
Yinka: It was not love at first sight. Then there was no GSM and we communicated through emails, so I gave him my address and he came to Abeokuta. While we communicated, I came to understand that he had some hidden qualities that most ladies did not know about. I observed that he was humble, God fearing, hardworking, independent and straightforward.  He is not one of the lazy men who go around looking for quick money.
So far, how has the journey been?
Bayo: It has been quite good and fun filled, although there has been ups and downs, we have acquired more knowledge along the line. As a man, handling a woman is not an easy task; it is bigger than the ambition of becoming a millionaire. The task of being a responsible man and trying to create a balance between the home, social life and more is not quite easy but to God be the glory. It has been wonderful and that has been because of the woman. I spend more time outside the home and she has been there always. She is taking care of the kids, still running and minding her own business.  The relationship will go far because at the beginning, we were trying to understand each other but when a relationship goes on for 10 years it means that you have been able to maintain stability. The long years have helped in breaking barrier of individual differences.
Yinka: It is God who has sustained our marriage for this length of time. I am a woman who is connected to God and I don't do anything outside His will. I depend on Him for guidance, counselling and wisdom and that has been able to help me as a woman. My husband is so plain, he has nothing to hide. I don't go out with him most times but I can predict what he is capable of doing.
How do you handle the arguments and fights?
Bayo: Thankfully, both of us are very timid, I do the shouting most times and she just keeps quiet but once she is silent,  I would try as much as possible to  resolve issues amicably and apologise whenever I am at fault. Most times I would still want to be the man even when I am at fault, but at the end of the day after my shouting act, I would calm down and call her to myself.
Yinka:  He is a strong man. He will always want to assert himself. As a woman, I will sometimes want to nag, when I start my nagging, he would be quick to remind me of how much he hates nagging, that would make me control myself immediately.
She stays in Abeokuta while you stay in Lagos, how do you cope with the distance?
Bayo: When I am working, I stay in Lagos but when I am not working, I am home in Abeokuta which is not far from Lagos.
Yinka: Since we are raising the children in Abeokuta, I have always preferred to be in Abeokuta. . If we were based in Lagos, he would still have to travel because his job takes him to a lot of places. It is not really a barrier. What matters is wherever he travels to, he always comes back home and makes his family happy.
Your   work involves being around a lot of females, how does she cope?
Bayo: It does not bother her at all, not that she does not react. I could call one lady for more than two times and my wife could just make a passing joke about the issue and that would be all. Of course, she knows all my male and female friends and she trusts me that I do not overstep my boundaries. She also understands that my profession exposes me to many people – both males and females.
Yinka: As long as he doesn't bring them home, I have no reason to worry. Sometimes, I listen in on his calls and I read his messages but such things do not affect my emotions because I have the understanding of the kind of job he does and I know that he interacts with all kinds of people on a regular basis.
How is the romance now that it is 10 years and there are children involved?
Bayo:  Working far apart helps the romance a lot. I can be away for a week and during that period, my mind would be occupied with the desire to see my family.  On her part too, she is always looking forward to seeing me whenever we are apart for a certain period of time.
Yinka: The romance is still hot and getting better. We are not tired of each other.
What does he do to make you angry?
Yinka:   In the past he had the habit of shouting and that always got me very angry but these days he is learning to control himself.

Biggest Snake Market in Nigeria [Photos And Video]

Posted: 07 Jul 2013 08:59 AM PDT

Most people are rightly scared of snakes and their poisonous venom – for Nigerians and African food – they can make a tasty dish.

Nigeria's biggest snake market is located in Badagry, on the outskirts of Lagos and BattaBox correspondent Odunayo takes into the bustling market where coils of dried snakes are stacked, priced and ready to go.

Enormous bags of hundreds of different shapes, lengths and sizes of snakes – and customers (mostly women who own restaurants) all rush to the bags and grab as many as they can as fast as they can – before they are sold out.

Scroll down to watch video…

"They bring the snakes from the Republic of Benin," says Bati who has been selling it in the Badagry market (near Nigeria's border with Benin) for many years now. And customers come from across South-West Nigeria like Ondo and Oyo state to buy.

"People really love snake! They come from far and wide to eat!" says one young woman is buying a large bag, full of snakes – "We buy from here and then use it to cook as Pepper Soup… its tastes so delicious and sweet – it tastes like fish."

One large snake can cost up to 1400 Naira ($9) and the small snake can cost as little as 500 Naira ($3). Eating snake is popularly thought of as good for the body – "if you eat snake, you will get more strength and look more healthy," Odunayo explains.

However, a recent study found that the snake population is crashing in Nigeria.

The causes are not known and similar severe declines in populations were found in the UK, France and Italy… but eating snakes in such numbers surely cannot help. And such declines, say environmentalists, has a massive ecological impact with considerable biodiversity loss.

But Odunayo buys her own snake to take home for her own favorite African food – pepper soup.

Susan Peters Disgraces Herself At The Aso Rock Presidential Villa

Posted: 07 Jul 2013 08:59 AM PDT

According to an insider who was at the event that took place at the Presidential Villa with dignitaries, politicians, Nollywood stars, musicians, models and famous designers in attendance
Actress Susan Peters was razz, irritating and annoying at the event, and this made other celebrities sick and uncomfortable, including a prominent Nollywood director who purposely stood up from the table the actress was sitting at (with some other Nollywood stars) and went to sit at another table filled with models and musicians (which we all know is very odd) because he couldn't cope with her bad-mouthing, disgusting and to the gutters attitude of hers.
One of the guests at the table Charles was sitting at was over heard saying, you can't believe the director left his seat because of that talkative actress.
Crux of the gist; Susan Peter caught up and walked to her state governor who was also present at the event, but was given the worst nightmare of her life as she was stopped by the governor's aides. She went shamefully with her body getting smaller in her outfit, to meet Lady Boss who helped her get to the Presidential Villa which she never dreamt off or imagine she will ever be, and sits like a daycare baby beside her. Lady Boss was seen petting, and telling her to calm down. And before the twinkling of an eye, Egor made a call, a woman came to her, and she asked the woman to take crying baby Susan to the governor.
The funniest part is that, apparently Susan Peters and another actress Oge Okoye who fortune also smiles at as she was one of the people Lady Boss invited to the Presidential Villa, later snicked out to the Benue State Governor, and were given a large envelop with one big and everyone's darling actress from another camp which caused a heavy fight on who's going to get the large amount of what's inside the envelop. Long throat I guess!
This fight was what caught Lady Boss's attention, and she was heard foaming that 'What is wrong with that razz and talentless Susan Peters'. How can a low-life idiot like Susan walk with her if not because of Lisa. That she will so deal with Susan. And again, one of the reasons why Lady Boss was very annoyed is because this was the same Susan Peter asking everyone that cares to listen if the president is going to refund their tickets money to Abuja and back to Lagos, or not.

Men Strip Sexy Lady Naked For Wearing "Tempting" Mini Skirt [Photo And Video]

Posted: 07 Jul 2013 08:50 AM PDT

It was indeed a shameful day for this lady as she was attacked by several men, young and old, who pounced on her around a popular bus-stop and ripped her dress open for daring to come out from her house with a very "tempting mini skirt".
What started like "expensive joke" soon turned serious as she was completely stripped naked.

But for the timely arrival of a man, said to be a local politician, the mob would have molested her all because of her indecent dressing. The politician rescued her, took her into a tailor's workshop where she was given a wrapper and later smuggled away on a motor cycle.

The incident which happened in Kitengela town, Nairobi has further sent a clear signal to ladies in the area that the warning to them to always be moderate in their dressing is still serious.

"It was better for her to go naked because her intentions were clear," said one of those who stripped her.

UNILAG saga: My story - Why I charge 5 million per Show – Wizkid

Posted: 07 Jul 2013 06:52 AM PDT

 …Says he hasn't dumped EME…
Becoming a celebrity comes with a lot of challenges and this is a fact, hip-hop star, Ayo Balogun, a.k.a Wizkid, has found out the hard way. Recently, an impostor, impersonating him defrauded his UNILAG fans, prompting the police to invite him(Wizkid) for questioning. The Pepsi ambassador has since shrugged off the experience, but he's on a mission to ensure it does not repeat itself. In this interview with SHOWTIME CELEBRITY, the artiste talks about his UNILAG saga, fame, new record label and more. Enjoy!

What really happened between you and the UNILAG students. You were accused of duping them?

By now, I think all is clear that there are some people parading themselves as either Wizkid or his managers. The unfortunate incident regarding the UNILAG students is a case of mistaken identity where people fell victim to some unscrupulous elements who impersonated me or my representatives. The same people, as we have come to know, went as far as creating fake accounts in my name to dupe people.

I just don't really want to talk much  about it. There are processes involved in booking Wizkid for shows.  If you want to book Wizkid for a show or anything of the sort, you go to Empire Mates Entertainment, EME, which is my label or you talk to my manager, Godwin Tom. Those  are the main channels to reach me if you want to book me for a show. So,if you've been chatting with the Wizkid on the social media and he has  promised to do something or charges you money, I want you to know that Wizkid never charges anybody or does his business directly. I don't discuss price, I don't talk about anything like that. I allow my management and my label to handle my business. So, nobody talks directly to me concerning payments.

How did you come about the UNILAG palaver?

Basically, the police just called us to inform us of the development. We can't really give full details because we were invited to come to the police station and we went as law abiding citizens. When we got there, we gave our own statement as well as the students. But we really can't say anything now until the police have done their proper investigations. But with the details on ground, what  we want you to know is that the so-called Wizkid the students have been contacting is fake and an impostor. It's really not from me or from anybody around me.

Do you have a procedure for booking you for shows?

Yes, we do. My manager is going to give the proper details, proper emails, the  right phone numbers and other things needed. We are going to definitely make that known. We are going to give full details, so, you will have it. It's a  simple process. Either you contact me or you contact EME directly. But even when you contact me, the whole procedure is that I will direct you to the booking office as well.
It is simple. You send your request via email or you can call us and send us your email address. The booking office would contact you from the email address you have provided with a booking questionnaire. The booking questionnaire seeks information about your event, venue details as well as publicity activities, what you intend to do and other special requests. We don't really want to give more details so that the impostors would not continue with their fraudulent activities.

The email you are talking about that all bookings comes through, is it the same email every communication comes to?

No. If you have contacted anybody regarding a Wizkid show, paid and we do not show up for the event or you do not contact the right people; provide the bank account details, provide the email correspondence. If there was a contract, provide the contract – that is as simple as it gets. We are not fighting with anybody. We sympathise with the students who have been duped, but for you to do it properly, for you to get the best information that you need, it is important  to provide the necessary information.

In this case, what do you think really happened regarding the procedure?

We are letting the police do their job. We have nothing to say because we know very well that we were not the ones they contacted. So, we are not worried. What we are concerned  about is to stop others from being duped by these impostors.

What was your first reaction when you heard the news?

I felt so bad. I just went to my Twitter account and tweeted the normal people to contact if you want to book a show with Wizkid. Let's be realistic. Everybody saw my hustle and watched me grow. When I dropped   "Holla Your Boy", I was much younger and wasn't charging up to N5 million  for shows. This is just playing out and it is simple.

So, how much do you charge now?

N5 million is okay for my show. But let's just put things right. It is so bad to my company's name and my name as well. That is why I  decided to open up on this issue.
 Wizkid-c
What is your relationship with EME at teh moment?

We are doing great, we have been having meetings. Going back and forth, evolving new plans to make EME one of the best record labels, not just in Nigeria but also, in Africa . Everyone is in the studio. Banky W. shot a couple of videos recently. We were at the video shoot last week; we are still working.

There is this rumour that you are no longer with EME?

I have just released an album in collaboration with Wizkid and EME. "Starboy" is my new company, EME is still there for me. "Starboy" is Wizkid's new record label and I have a couple of producers that are working with me in the new company. Definitely, we are working with a lot of people. Banky W and I, started way back. Our dreams have always been to build an empire, to help more people and give them that platform to showcase their talents. And all these dreams cannot happen only with one person.
So, we have to branch out and reach out to more people. The industry is really big and there are more than 5 million kids out there roaming about the street and looking for a platform to showcase their talents. We want to give them the platform to do that. So, as you can see, everyone can contribute to that. Now that "Starboy" has started, we thank God, we are doing well. Anybody can start up something. That is just what we are trying to do with EME.

Have you released the track list of your latest album?

Yes, I have done that. I featured Olamide, D'banj and Banky W. The album is ready right now. But we are just putting some finishing touches to it. We will be having a listening party of the album very soon and we are going to announce that as soon as it is ready. We are planning for that. The album is coming out very strong and I thank God that I have put all the necessary things in place. I have a very strong belief that the album is going to win awards.

How long have you known Mallic?

I have known him for quit some time now, about a year and some couple of months. We just talk about business and nothing more. But we took out time and planned something good and we are working on actualising that. This is what I am saying about branching out, giving people platforms to perform. So, I have to give a lot of people that platform. What we are doing together is to set the standard and lead the way for people to follow.

Would you say that his production input has redefined your music?

Of course, and everybody he has worked with. Even he produces Afrobeat  sometimes. Nobody knows it all. We also produced in the UK, so, it was like me working with him. We are still learning, it is a process. No one knows it all.

There is this rumour making the rounds  that you have replaced your accidented Porsche car. Is it true?

Yes, that is absolutely true. We thank God for that. We thank Him for sparing my life. This is not the first time I've had such an encounter. That doesn't mean I am a freak, but I needed to be mobile. I was moving around with a taxi all through the duration of the accident which is not proper.

Wizkid
Wizkid
A whole lot of people have been blowing the accident out of proportion. But how bad was it?

Well, I don't really like talking about the bad side of things. I believe that at some point in life, we all have to learn something good about life, something that would help our life in the future. When I had that accident I was like, I had to check myself and know the things I am not doing right. My mind told me that anything I am doing, I have to do it faster. I was like, if the world had ended that day, what would I have done. I thanked God for keeping me alive to testify his goodness. I made a promise to myself to never get down because of the accident. So, life must go on, no matter what it takes.

How has your evolution in the musical world been?

It has been massive. I have learnt so much and I have worked with so many legends. It is really mind- blowing. For me, I feel so excited. I am still learning and striving to get to the top. When I look back to where I started, I see a lot of accomplishments. That's what normally comes to my mind. I also feel blessed, but it goes with a lot of responsibilities. You know, everything is for a while. It is the legacy that you built while you were there that lasts. So, I try as much as possible to leave a legacy so that even when I am not here, people will not forget my name easily.

What really prompted you to do a 'collabo' with Femi Kuti?

Yes, a lot of people never expected that. People think Wizkid talks only about girls, cars  and some flashy things in his music, but I don't. All I talk about in my music is true life story. When I decided to do "Jayejaye" with Femi, I just really wanted to pass a message of  what Wizkid wants to be or  ways you can be like Wizkid. I still have not done anything, but people think I have done many things. I don't think I have done a lot, I am still learning. The "Jayejaye" music was just to bridge the gap between the old and the young people. A big shout out to Femi Kuti for giving me the chance to do that track with him. I called him a day before we recorded the track and he allowed me. So, I am just saying a big thank you.

So, what should fans expect from your forthcoming album?

They should expect everything magical. We have put in a lot of work and we are just hoping that everyone likes the album. I have been in the studio for weeks and even months now. I can't wait for the album to be released. I hope everybody will like the album. I have just put in a lot of hard work.

It's like you have a passion for flashy cars?

No, I don't think so. A lot of people drive more flashy  cars than I do, even in the entertainment industry. I really don't think like that. After the accident , I had no other car to drive around. Believe it or not, I moving around with  a taxi and I didn't like that.  I don't think that amounts to having passion for flashy cars.  What about people in government that spend so much money on cars? I worked hard to make my money, so I need to use it well. If someone works hard for his money and decides to spend it for his pleasure, I don't think it is a bad idea.

How do you feel  reading stories of some artistes who cannot fend for themselves when they grow old?

I have to learn from them and know how to make savings. If I am not learning from people that came before, then what am I  doing? It's not that anybody is wishing anybody bad, but we must learn and plan ahead.

SEE The ‘BEEF’ between Jay Jay Okocha and Kanu Nwankwo

Posted: 07 Jul 2013 06:51 AM PDT

Unknown to many, two of Nigeria's great and Ex-Super Eagles skippers, Austin Jay-Jay Okocha and Kanu Nwankwo are not having the best of relationship but often try to keep it away from the media.

The sour relationship between them started many years ago after the midfield maestro quit international football.
Kanu who at that time won the FA Cup with Portsmouth FC was selected alongside Austin Okocha to decide who got the ambassadorial honour for Fidelity Bank Plc.

Due to the influence of Kanu among some South East governors, the former Arsenal striker won it and this did not go down well with Jay jay.

The two, according to a very close source, have often avoided each other any time event brings them together.

The source disclosed that, supremacy of sort thus exists between them and it is of note that either of them ever invited another for any personal event in the past.

Shocking -Placenta collectors offer mothers as much as N2.5M per placenta

Posted: 07 Jul 2013 06:46 AM PDT

"Madam, I can help you raise money to pay your hospital bill, if you can give me your placenta." This was the statement of a middle aged man identified as Segun who specialises in buying and selling of placenta.

It was part of a conversation between Segun and a woman, Mrs. Chidera Okereke who was recently delivered of a bouncing baby boy in a hospital located in Mafoluku area of Lagos State.
Investigations by Saturday Sun reveal that the trend which has been going on as secret deals between sellers and buyers is however assumed an alarming dimensionproportion with the audacity with which placenta collectors now approach pregnant women to sell their babies placenta upon delivery. Placenta is an organ which links the foetus to the mother in mammals for transfer of oxygen and nutrients to the foetus and waste products to the mother. Mrs. Okereke is one of those who has had an encounter with the evil merchants.

She told Saturday Sun that one of the collectors of the human part, Segun approached her with an offer to help her settle her hospital bill in exchange of her baby's placenta. Narrating her experience, she said: "I was outside waiting for my husband who had gone to source for money to settle my bill, when a man who later introduced himself as Segun accosted me. He claimed that one of the nurses directed him to come and meet me that I was in need of money to settle myhospital bill.It was then that he told me that he is a placenta collector and that he would pay as much as N500, 000. "I thought he was joking till he brought out his cheque book, it was at that point that I started shouting. He ran away before people started gathering around. He claimed that he is a regular visitor in the hospital and used to deal with nurses but in recent times, the families demand their placenta after delivery."

Also narrating her own encounter with one of the placenta collectors on the prowl, a nurse, Patricia (surname withheld) who works in a hospital at Mafoluku area of Oshodi, claimed that she was actually offered N2.5million to supply placenta to a certain landlord who lives close to the hospital. She said: "He is popularly known as Baba Saheed and owns a house few blocks after the hospital. One day, he called me and asked me if he can buy placenta from the hospital.

He promised to pay N1.5million for each baby's placenta; I was shocked because that was a lot of money. I told him that I was not interested and he increased it to N2.5million and I still refused. To convince me, he said that there were so many places he could get supply but decided to try me since so many women were giving birth in the hospital."On a second thought, I drew the attention of the doctor who invited him over. He threatened to arrest him but later relented when Baba Saheed prostrated and started begging for mercy. He claimed that he got the contract from a big company. Since then it is a matter of policy that every pregnant woman must go home with her baby's placenta after delivery.

Although both cases point to a possible act of illegality, findings show that placenta is believed by some communities to have power over the lives of the baby or its parents. Many species of mammals consume their placentas. Human and animal placentas are also widely believed to be used as a source of extracts used as ingredients in various consumer products such as pharmaceuticals, cosmetics, hair care products, health tonics, and food products other than ritual consumption by the baby's mother or family.

In China and Hongkong, the placenta is eaten, a practice known as placentophagy. It was also learnt that a company in Japan makes a drink called "Placenta Drink" which contains placenta. The company claims that "they use the placenta as raw material", adding that the drink makes the body's metabolism active. Medical practitioners who spoke with Saturday Sun said that due to the fear of those on the loose scouting for the human parts they now insist that mothers should go home with their placenta after delivery. Dr Jide Adeleke recalled that it took the grace of God for him to survive a particular scandal that nearly destroyed his hospital.

"I had a situation where one of the mothers after two days, came back to demand her placenta. She claimed that her mother in-law asked her to collect it back from us. Her argument was that it has been sold out to someone else. Our saving grace was that the spot where it was buried was still there and the placenta was exhumed. This is why in the labour ward it is boldly written, 'remember to take your placenta.' Another Doctor, Steve Maduekwe claimed that they bury them at the request of the family.

"We normally advise our patients to go home with their placenta. It is a sacred thing and property of the woman who could either bury it or dry it up for storage. In others some would ask you to dispose of it. It is unfortunate and it is also true that it is in demand. I was once contacted by an individual who wants to use them to produce cosmetics.

He offered good money and I advised him to go and meet the women." Mrs. Onolaja, who owns a maternity home in Orile, claimed that she had been confronted severally to supply placenta and paid huge sum of money. Onoloja who spoke to Saturday Sun on phone said, "I am a Christian that is why I will never be party to that act. I was once confronted by a man who claims to be a representative of a cosmetic company in Lagos.

He claimed that he wanted those placentas to produce hair cream. I refused despite the amount in question. I always insist that my patients should go with their placenta. This is so because I cannot
vouch for my staff, they are the ones who will dispose of it. Their offer is always much and could be tempting."

Another midwife who also owns a maternity home in Agege said that it is not a new thing but that most of the collectors approach them with the excuse that it is used to produce cosmetics. "I have referred several of them to the nursing mothers. They own the placenta and have the right to dispose of it as they wish. It is humanly possible that they use it for ritual.

That is why it is important that every mother should demand her placenta after birth. In my village each placenta is buried and a tree would be planted on it in remembrance of that birth." Also a laboratory scientist, Professor Sam Sokunbi argued that those collectors could be using them medically as it is in popular demand. He said "every production company believes in result and considering the benefits that could be accrued in the use of placenta, anything can be offered to get the product especially from a human being.

We cannot pretend that there are no evil men in the world but the truth remains that there is demand for placenta in Nigeria among the production companies. All they need to do is to enlighten Nigerians so that they can willingly offer their placenta for a certain price. We live in a world which believes so much in spiritual

HORROR: How Boko Haram Killed 40 Students In Their Hostel

Posted: 07 Jul 2013 05:44 AM PDT

Just imagine what these people who called themselves Boko Haram has done:
"From the accounts of teachers and other students who escaped the attack, the gunmen gathered their victims in a hostel and threw explosives and opened fire, leading to the death of 42."
"It was a gory sight. People who went to the hospital and saw the bodies shed tears. There were 42 bodies, most of them were children. Some of them had parts of their bodies blown off."

Gunmen believed to be members of dreaded Islamic sect, Boko Haram, on Saturday killed about 42 people, mostly students, in an attack on a secondary school in the restive Yobe State, which is still grappling with life under emergency rule.

Medical workers and residents who spoke with the press describe gruesome details of bullet ridden bodies and people who suffered burns and serious injuries.

"We received 42 dead bodies of students and other staff of Government Secondary School (in) Mamudo; some of them had gunshot wounds while many of them had burns and ruptured tissues," Haliru Aliyu of the Potiskum General Hospital told Agence France Presse.

Note that Mamudo is about five kilometres from Potiskum, the commercial hub of Yobe. The state has been a notable flashpoint during the insurgency mounted by Boko Haram in recent months.

Haliru Aliyu said that security personnel were combing the bushes around the school in search of students who were believed to have escaped with gunshot wounds. "So far six students have been found and are now in the hospital being treated for gunshot wounds," he added.

A local resident who did not want to be named also said that many sustained gunshot wounds.

He said the attack was believed to be a reprisal by Boko Haram for the killing of 22 of its members during a military raid in the town of Dogon Kuka, also in Yobe on Thursday.

So far, violence linked to the Boko Haram insurgency has left some 3,600 people dead since 2009, including many that were killed in worship places.

You may wish to know that Boko Haram means "western education is evil"!

Rape in the Church: The Devil Used Me ––Pastor's Confession

Posted: 07 Jul 2013 05:43 AM PDT

Many senior Christian leaders in Nigeria found it hard to believe the story when it broke. They made calls to confirm if those close to this popular pastor had heard the "unfortunate" story.

But the 'man of God' himself has finally cleared the air as to what really happened, leading to him have s*x with a girl [her parents say he raped her] right inside one of the church office...
Speaking at the State Criminal Investigation Department, SCID, in Rivers State, Bishop Chibuike Nwabueze narrated the story of how he allegedly raped a 15-year-old girl after ministering at Calvary Army Ministry, Rumuoji Eneka in Obio Akpor local government area of Rivers state.

He blamed it on the devil and also accused his host as the one who set him up. According to the cleric, after he finished ministering, he retired to rest. The girl later came for deliverance.

The pastor said that while he was pleading the blood of Jesus on the little girl, she started removing her dress. Before he could restrain her, he said he found himself on top of her.

"But to my greatest surprise, I was surprised when I saw her pulling off her blouse and skirt. But, before I knew it, I had a carnal knowledge of her. That is the truth of the matter."

His head suddenly dropped after the confession, then went up again; this time he said anybody could have fallen for it.

Nwabueze said he took a second look at the little girl who probably was still lying nude and waiting for him to start a second round and what he saw pissed him off.

"She started laughing at me. She said 'are you angry?' I told her that I did not know she had hypnotised me. She said I should not bother," the bishop said.

According to him, when he realised he had sinned against God, he called some junior pastors to tell them what he had done to pray for him. "I was so angry and annoyed that I called some of my pastors and made a confession, that I did not know what was happening."

Nwabueze said it was not true that he raped the girl, stressing that it was a consensual act. He also dismissed the allegation that he later procured abortion for the girl when the father called to inform him that she was pregnant. According to him, it was the girl's father that did it but he paid the bills.

The bishop maintained that the pastor of the church where he went to preach set him up and he fell for it.

"We have different Colleges of Bishops. I am the Chairman of the Communion of Bishops in Rivers State. Well, what actually happened was a set up. It was set-up by my enemies. I have so many people who are my enemies. The man in-charge of where I went to minister is my enemy. He is the person that set me up," he stated.

"He invited me to his church for a programme, claiming to be my friend. After the programme, he set me up because of the tussle over the chairmanship of the communion."

Meanwhile, the police have advised Christians to be vigilant and ask the right questions sometimes on the actions of some pastors. This way the police said, Christians could different between true and fake pastors.

Deputy Commissioner of Police in charge of Rivers SCID, Mr Samuel Okaula, who paraded the bishop and a male nurse who allegedly facilitated the abortion, also said people should be conscious of worship centres. He said Nwabueze would be arraigned before the court to serve as a deterrent.

Reacting to the development, Executive Director, Institute of Human rights and Humanitarian Law, IHRHL, Mr Ayankwee Nsirimovu, described the action of the bishop as unfortunate as it was done by one in a position of spiritual trust. He said the incident was one case out of the experiences of under aged girls, married and single women in the offices of randy clergy men.

''I Scattered your waist'' - Iyanya replies Yvonne Nelson

Posted: 07 Jul 2013 05:20 AM PDT

Following a recent interview she granted to Bella Naija, where she opened up on how her sizzling romance with Nigeria's music star, Iyanya started and crashed after eight months of dating, the Kukere crooner has replied Sexy Ghanian actress,Yvonne Nelson, declaring, "She can say whatever she wants to say."

WG caught up with Iyanya during the week, but rather than refuting Yvonne's claim, Iyanya simply muted, "I don't want to talk about it please. She can say whatever she wants to say. It's her business not mine."

The "Kukere" and "Ur waist" singer once denied neither dating Yvonne Nelson nor any known female celebrity, insisting  "the thing about dating celebs is that it would most likely not last."

Meanwhile, pouring her mind in the interview, Yvonne  accused Iyanya of laying the bed of their relationship with lies, adding that  while they were dating, he was also  dating several other girls.

According to heart broken Yvonne,  "We dated for  between  seven to eight  months. We had something and I thought it was special, like he was a wonderful guy but it was all lies. He had other girls and other things he was doing. Aside the actress that was in the picture, there were a lot more. That is how bad it is."

"We were in a relationship and he lied throughout and he was able to do all those things because I wasn't living in Nigeria. But aside from the distance, I feel if you're a genuine person and you're loyal, you would still not do that. I feel it's disrespectful to start mentioning other people's names.

I am talking about Iyanya because we had a thing, I don't want to bring in a third person. There were a lot of names that people know. There was a girl from South Africa, I'm not going to mention names but she was part of Big Brother Africa last year. "

When asked why she decided to keep the relationship away from public eye until their breakup, she replied,  "I also don't believe in putting my relationships in the faces of people. We both had our careers and were trying to protect our fan base and that's cool. But if you go through my Instagram page, you'd see a couple of pictures of us together.

I wasn't shy about anything but he could not say he's dating Yvonne Nelson because he had different people he was seeing so it was very hard for him to bring it out. "

Kumuyi Wants To Resign As Deeper Life Head Over His Son's Flambouyant Wedding

Posted: 07 Jul 2013 01:02 PM PDT

John Kumuyi and his wife, Love engaged in acts, which negated the church's tradition during their wedding held in Jamaica on June 15, 2013. Love, who is a daughter of the National Overseer of Deeper Life Bible Church, Jamaica, Pastor Augustine Odih, was dressed in a fitted stylish wedding gown with transparent short sleeves. She also wore makeup, jewelry, etc.
The couple cruised in a limousine and had a huge wedding cake. Anyway, the misdemeanor, which attracted widespread criticisms from members and non members had...
Earned the newlyweds suspension from church activities despite showing remorse and tendering an apology to the church, blaming their misconduct on the fact that both of them had resided abroad for so long.

Also, John's father, Pastor William Kumuyi offered to resign as General Superintendent of the Deeper Life Bible Church following the controversy that trailed the wedding of his second son.

It was gathered that the practice in the Deeper Christian Life Ministry is that if members' children misbehave, both the children and their parents get punished on the grounds that it's the parents' failing in their responsibilities that made the children to err.
Although the couple involved in the Jamaican wedding infraction are adults, the leadership of Deeper Life are regarding their action as a strong breach of its tradition, and had immediately removed the bride's father from his position as National Overseer in Jamaica.

To demonstrate that there is no double standard in the church, it was further learnt that Pastor Kumuyi, at the meeting held by the leadership of the church on the matter, offered to resign as General Superintendent, but was prevailed upon not to.

According to the Sunday Sun source, the General Superintendent did not take kindly the couple's behaviour and, unlike Eli in the Bible who did not discipline his sons and incurred the wrath of God, Pastor Kumuyi had ensured that the offenders were sanctioned.

Meanwhile, the suspension of John and his wife from church activities has provoked mixed reactions from notable church leaders and other Nigerians.

Outspoken Pastor and the General Overseer of Latter Rain Assembly, Pastor Tunde Bakare who was once a member of the church condemned the punishment meted out by the church, describing it as wicked.
Pastor Bakare said: "I personally did not see what they have done wrong. A man is entitled to his own authority in his own home. 1st Peter Chapter 3. A wife should dress to please the husband and not the members of the church or public. It's sheer wickedness to the couple, they should leave them to enjoy their honeymoon. They should not squeeze them to the modus operandi of a particular organization.
I did not see anything wrong in the wedding. The bride was not naked or dressed inappropriately and the groom didn't. Esther the queen was beautifully dressed in the bible to gain the king's attention. They should not make mountain out of a molehill. I was in the Deeper Life Bible Church for five years and nobody compelled me to dress the way I dressed. My wife was with me in the church though we weren't married then. She wears earrings and dresses nicely. All this talk about this couple should stop."

What would OJB do? - Now he has excess Money

Posted: 07 Jul 2013 04:47 AM PDT

When OJB turned to the general public to seek for financial help (100,00 dollars) in order to pay the medical bills of the ailment he is sadly afflicted with, he trusted that Nigerians, irrespective of the general hardship which we live in, would answer. And answer they did.
A lot of individuals made private donations to either of the 2 bank accounts (in his name) that was provided. And not just ordinary Nigerians, we have heard that some fellow entertainers came to his aid with the likes of Don Jazzy, D'Banj, PSquare (who gave 5 million naira), etc donating to the loving and humane cause of ensuring that OJB survives this trying period of his life.
Considering that he asked for 100,000 dollars and has not been clear with the public concerning how much he has raised, the public do not know whether the expected figure has been reached or even exceeded. Today we have been told that the Rivers State governor has donated the entire 100,000 dollars that the young man needs in one lump sum.
So, the question arises, should OJB pull down his banners and request cards for donations to him considering the amount of money he has already received?
Now that he has gotten all these money and in excess of what he asked for, should he return the rest to the donors or better still find causes in Nigeria - people who need help just like him, and hand the excess over to them because he did not earn the money neither did he work for it. It is simply donations and you are not meant to enrich yourself with donations.
I am not being harsh on OJB simply because, Nigerians are always willing to help whenever there is need and since we live in a society where people are in constant need of help, those who have received what they asked for, should clear the line for the numerous others who are in dire need of help to receive help.
So now that OJB has received more than he asked for, he needs to exhibit the same kindness and love he received from others by making donations of the excess that he has received to those people who need it all over the nation.
So, what would OJB do?
To whom much is given.........
